Containing a sense of reserved religious devotion, the Duruflé and Fauré Requiems are some of the most often performed works by French composers. While deeply heartfelt they avoid the occasionally bombastic fervour of their German and Italian colleagues, instead seeking music of contemplation and engaging in a wide palette of colours and effects. Beautiful and transcendent, there’s an almost ‘chant-like’ quality to these hymns for the dead and life everlasting

In the unique acoustics of St Patrick’s Basilica in Fremantle UWA Choral Society’s sound will blend and interact with the original pipe organ accompaniment in what promises to be a moving and uplifting performance.
