His Majesty's Theatre, 825 Hay Street, Perth

I will sing in the West Australian Opera Chorus

Otello’s famous first explosive moments describe the terror of a storm at sea. Iago, the embodiment of self-importance and arrogance, is fuelled by jealousy and rage at missing a promotion to Captain and sets out to destroy Otello.

Desdemona’s morality and her love for Otello are cast in doubt. Roderigo’s jealousy is used and abused. Layer upon layer of manipulation highlights how one person’s evil and selfish intentions impact many. Verdi’s magnificent score and Arrigo Boite’s dramatic libretto display power, poignant beauty and profound tragedy.
