Saturday 3 May,
Albany Entertainment Centre, Albany

I will sing in the West Australian Opera Chorus.

In keeping with its commitment to regional Western Australia and the fostering of community engagement, West Australian Opera will travel to the Great Southern to present Opera in Albany, a series of performance events focusing on remembrance, school-based learning and the promotion of opera as a vibrant, living art-form.
West Australia Opera is honoured to work in collaboration with the local community to contribute to this year’s ANZAC day ceremony at Albany Peace Park. In this very special year when Albany will be the centrepiece of Western Australia’s ANZAC Centenary commemorations, mezzo soprano Fiona Campbell will sing the national anthems of Australia and New Zealand together with other selected works.
West Australian Opera will provide free in-school performances within the region during the week 28 April - 2 May. These performances are devised specifically for school children and will be directed by Brendan Hanson featuring WAO artists Emma Pettemerides, Sarah Guilmartin and Robert Hofmann accompanied by Lochlan Brown.
The WAO’s visit will conclude with Opera in Albany, a gala performance at the Albany Entertainment Centre. The program will feature Principal Artist Fiona Campbell together with the 28-member West Australian Opera Chorus. Conductor Joseph Nolan will lead the WAO Chorus through a selection of opera highlights guaranteed to captivate the serious opera aficionado and the first-timer alike.

Joining the singers on stage for several chorus numbers will be the 35-member Albany Light Opera Company. Joseph Nolan will travel to Albany prior to the performance to rehearse with them in preparation for their West Australian Opera debut.
